As part of our 25th anniversary celebrations we caught up with previous UK ATC Directors to find out more about the history of the organisation.

The UK Astronomy Technology Centre launched in 1998 and Dr Adrian Russell was the first Director steering the organisation until 2004. After UK ATC he moved on to the European Southern Observatory and currently ​works as Director of Programmes at ESO.

Professor Ian Robson took on the role next and was Director at UK ATC from 2005 to 2012. Robson continues to work with the Science and Technology Facilities Council as a visiting scientist.
