Picture of the Month
04 Jan 2024

Each month we highlight an amazing picture. This could be a brand-new image or a favourite from the archives.

This month it's a spectacular composite image from MIRI and NIRCam (on the James Webb Space Telescope) and Hubble of  spiral galaxy NGC 628. In Webb's high-resolution infrared images, the gas and dust is highlighted in orange and red. Just one of 19 new images released by NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI, Janice Lee (STScI), Thomas Williams (Oxford), PHANGS Team.
