For International Women's Day we are celebrating the work and expertise of all female identifying staff from across UK ATC, Royal Observatory Edinburgh (ROE) and the University of Edinburgh's Institute for Astronomy (IfA). Many of whom gathered for this photo taken beside the Victorian library on site.

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) groups at UK ATC and IfA and ROE WiSTEM (Women in STEM) organised a series of events for staff including a wellbeing session, a networking lunch and a panel discussion featuring UK ATC's Director Professor Gillian Wright  and Senior Project Manager Sandi Wilson alongside IfA Professors Beth Biller and Alkistis Pourtsidou, talking about their careers and experiences in the field of astronomy.

You can also check out our X/Twitter for a look back at historical astronomy books and manuscripts written by women from the Crawford Collection.

It's also the perfect opportunity to highlight some of the most recent news and research featuring women at UK ATC:

New research using JWST and ALMA shows massive stars shape entire planetary systems.

Astronomers find first strong evidence of neutron star at centre of Supernova 1987A.
